Hymns!!

I love BSF for many reasons. One is that we teach the young children hymns. There are a list of 10 hymns and we only sing those throughout the year. They do such a great job choosing the hymns, and this year is no exception. Here's one of my 2 favorites! I love the words. So full of truth and encouragement!!

Children of the Heavenly Father
Safely in His bosom gather;
Nestling bird nor star in heaven
Such a refuge e'er was given.

God HIs own doth tend and nourish;
In His holy courts they flourish;
From all evil things He spares them;
In His mighty arms He bears them.

Neither life nor death shall ever
From the Lord His children sever;
Unto them His grace He showeth,
And their sorrows all He knoweth.

Though He giveth or He taketh,
God His children ne'er foresaketh;
His the loving purpose solely
To preserve them pure and holy.

Text by Caroline V. Sandell-Berg

The last 2 lines of the last verses really stand out to me today. His purpose is to preserve me pure and holy!! How many times do I fight that purpose, looking for my purpose!!

Here's the other one that I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE!!

Be Still My Soul!

Be still, my soul! the Lord is on thy side;
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain;
Leave to thy God to order and provide;
In every change He faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul! thy best, thy heavenly Friend
Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

Be still, my soul! thy God doth undertake
To guide the future as He has the past.
Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake;
All now mysterious shall be bright at last.
Be still, my soul! the waves and winds still know
His voice who ruled them while He dwellt below.

Be still, my soul! the hour is hastening on
When we shall be forever with the Lord,
When disappointment, grief and fear are gone,
Sorrow forgot, love's purest joys restored.
Be still, my soul! when change and tears are past,
All safe and blessed we shall meet at last!

This hymn speaks to me in soo many ways! I love that I can leave to my God to order and provide and that He will remain faithful in EVERY change!!

Oh..and I have a hard time posting without pictures.. so here are some that just need to be posted!! :)
Sarah, being a diva!! Big surprise!!
The sweet lady at Starbucks gave Sarah an 8 oz cup of whipped cream covered in Chocolate at 12:30. Has she never heard of nap time?

Hannah's ballet recital costume!! they are going to be clocks!! :) LOVE the outfit!!
Sarah decided that we couldn't go to target with out her jewelries! She found her necklace and it matched her outfit perfectly! That's my girl!
Sarah and Archie Masi!!

Is this a glimpse of their future?

Peace out!

By the way, if it seems like there are a ton of pictures of Sarah, its because they are from my phone and Sarah and I spend a WHOLE lotta time together!! :)

The Smiths

WE love, love, love hymns in our house! BSF is great about teaching the little ones God's truth. Thanks for reminding me of all of that this morning.

laura

is there a CD for the hymns this year? we are not able to "BSF" due to homeschooling, but Children of the Heavenly father is one of my favories- have you heard the version from Plumb's album Blink? it's worth a listen!
